Dr. Hottie's Reality Checkup

Welcome to my world. Expect very real opinions (laden with sarcastic and off color humor) about the great invention that is reality television. This blog may occasionally stray off topic, but its for the best really.

Dance, Dance, Dance

And then there were 8.

You know I never thought I would see the day when Ashly DelGrosso lasted longer with Master P than with someone who can dance.. better. But that just goes to show you how good this bunch is. I knew it would be between him and Jerry and well, I think everyone wanted to let Jerry learn how to waltz. We can kick him off next week. Its okay.

After that the logical choice would be Sara, but then from that point on I do not know.

I want to say also I think Len was WAY hard on Mario. That was one of the best performances I've ever seen on that show. Yes he broke the rules but he deserved at least an 8 like Carrie Ann and Bruno gave him. That was just sad.

I think Len is just jealous cause it seems like there's a little sumpin' sumpin' going on between Mario and Karina. Speaking of which there is definitely something between Max and Willa and they readily admit it. I think its cute. And honestly their love connection might help them get votes. It certainly did this week.

As for next week, I know they're doing the paso doble and the waltz. I would like to see Mario, Joey, Emmitt and Willa do the paso and Jerry, Vivica, Sara and Monique do the waltz. But we'll see.

Gettin' Jiggy With Famous People

I am happy to say that I finally have a reality show to review. Since there are celebrities involved and not Joes off the street it is technically "surreality". My first victims will be those on Dancing With The Stars. Last season was highly enjoyable with the exception of Master P and in the end I think the right man won. Drew Lachey made me like him more than his brother which is actually not hard to do. And I touched Drew's foot once at a 98 Degrees concert. I was 17 - it was exciting.

Anyways, on with the show.

First up to the guillotine are Joey Lawrence and Edyta. I used to have the biggest crush on this boy. And I think Edyta can do a lot more with him than what she could do with George Hamilton. No offense to George but we're talking an age difference of like 30 years. So let's see. It was definitely hot. Not quite Drew and Cheryl yet, but its getting there. I completely agree with Len and Bruno that Joey needs to work on his hips but he looked totally comfortable out there.
Scores: 7, 7, 7

Next, Sara Evans and Tony. I'm already wondering about how much chemistry will be there versus Tony's chemistry with Stacy. Two totally different women here. Y'know, it was graceful. It wasn't that bad. Sara's real problem was a huge lack of confidence. You could watch her face and picture her thinking in her head "okay I step here and then I turn..." She's not Stacy but I think the judges were really hard on her. She doesn't deserve the same criticism as Master P or Kenny Mayne.
Scores: 5, 5, 5

Next, Tucker Carlson and Elena. I don't know either of them so there will be absolutely no bias here. Yay! Tucker is awfully confidant. Let's see if the confidence is valid. Well, he didn't quite stoop to Master P like levels, but the dance really didn't require a whole lot of him so he loses points on the difficulty scale. He should not get a better score than Sara. I do agree with Len though that he would be much better suited to the non-Latin dances.
Scores: 5, 4, 3

Next, Monique Coleman and Louis. Can Monique best Lisa Rinna? We will see. Practice looks promising. Monique did what Sara couldn't do. She got into the role and had fun with it. She didn't appear nervous at all. I think she did surprisingly well. Len wants them to get more romantic? How romantic does he want it? Sex on the dance floor?
Scores: 6, 6, ? (my VCR cut out)

Next, Emmitt Smith and Cheryl. Both have been champions. I have a feeling this could be a team to beat. They were really good, but at this point I still think Drew was better. I don't know why they go so crazy over these football players. I mean, considering you don't picture a running bank doing the cha cha cha its impressive, but at the end of the night I don't think Emmitt is going to be the best.
Scores: 8, 8, 8 (they deserved 7's tops)

Next, Willa Ford and Maksim. Yeah its team hottie. I am scared of Willa in this competion. Let's see if I should be. I loved it. I thought it looked very natural and they both had fun. Best female so far. Very fluid and sexy.
Scores: 7, 7, 8

Next, Mario Lopez and Karina. This brings back so many Saved By The Bell memories. Mario has ADD. That's hilarious. I heard prior to watching this that this was good. Let's see. This is OFFICIALLY the team to beat. I wouldn't have known Mario wasn't a professional. They will kill in every Latin dance. They had better get a better score than Emmitt and Cheryl.
Scores: 9, 8, 9 (very much deserved)

Next, Shanna Moakler and Jesse. Aka former Mrs. Blink 182. This should be interesting. She kind of reminds me of a younger version of Tatum O'Neal but less whiny. That was a backwards compliment. I liked the dancing. Better than I actually thought it would be. Harsh judges. Harsh.
Scores: 7, 5, 6

Next, Harry Hamlin and Ashley. I call this team robbing the cradle. Poor Ash always gets partnered with older men. I don't think Harry is going to be as good as Lisa. Time will tell. Well, he's not the atrocity that Master P was, but he's not at the level his wife was YET.
Scores: 5, 6, 6

Next, Vivica A. Fox and Nick. I love Viv. I think she could be very good. And you have to have the obligatory older woman make it far in the competition. Especially since there are so many youngins. Very, very hot. Loved it. Vivica is a bad ass.
Scores: 6, 8, 8

And lastly, Jerry Springer and Kym. You know, I wasn't expecting a whole lot, but it was very George Hamilton. Except I think George is more charming.
Scores: 5, 5, 6

My top picks of the night were in synch with the judges. In fact, I think those six will be the final six. That would be Mario, Emmitt, Joey, Vivica, Willa and Monique. 3 guys, 3 girls.

I am stating this without knowing who was voted off. I will go and check and then return to finish this post.

*checks*

Yeah I kind of figured Tucker was toast. He was this year's Kenny Mayne all the way. I would have liked to see him do one of the slower dances, but hey - Sara gets to stay and even though she's the weakest female dancer I still love her.

Preparing For The Fall Season

Yeah I took almost a month's hiatus. Idol was over. So You Think You Can Dance ended. Treasure Hunters wasn't all that intriguing.

Thankfully there is some good on the way. My extremely guilty pleasure Dancing With The Stars is coming back in a week. I get to be the only person who loves Tony Dovolani AGAIN. Yeah he's cocky, but I still like him. Also coming soon is The Amazing Race. Always very excited about that. Really though, Idol will be coming back in like 4 months too so its all good.

I do not plan on watching Celebrity Duets unless I can catch it on YouTube. I did catch a couple of the performances on there. Carly Patterson was shaky, but Alfonso Ribeiro worked it OUT! I'm referring to his duet with Michelle Williams. He was actually better than she was.

One last note on that - its pretty sad that Chris Jericho, the only celeb who is actually IN a band, was the first one voted off. I can understand. He's not a duet kind of guy, but still. Over Cheech Marin?!?!?
